Welcome to our School

The Nursery is a LA Maintained Nursery School. Featherstone Nursery School has been in operation for many years.

Our Nursery School is a 78-place Nursery School offering both 30 hour and 15 hour part-time places for 3 and 4 year olds We also offer 15-hour places for eligible 2 year olds. We employ qualified teachers, teaching assistants and Nursery Officers who work closely together to provide an exciting curriculum which inspires and motivates children to learn.

Our mission statement is “It takes a whole community to raise a child.” We work closely with parents and families to enable our children to reach their potential and to become independent learners and thinkers. We also work closely with schools and partner agencies within Erdington (such as Erdington Children’s Centre) to provide services and activities to support families.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum; providing a balance of child initiated and adult led activities in an environment that enables and empowers children to learn through play and exploration both indoors and outside. We want our children to develop a love of learning; to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem, with a willingness to “have-a-go” and a “can do attitude” that will enable them to gain positive attitudes and dispositions to take forward into their primary school education.

We are proud of the multicultural nature of our school and our staff are committed to promoting inclusion and equality meaning that all children are valued as individuals and we encourage them to show respect for the environment, for each other and for the views and beliefs of all.

You will find staff approachable, understanding and responsive; always focused on doing their best for your child and family. We want you and your child to have a happy time with us; to feel included and valued so:

Welcome to Featherstone Nursery School!

I hope that you will find this website useful and we would value your feedback so that we can continue to improve it!
